The Sustainability Specialist supports the Sustainability Program Manager in developing, executing, and monitoring initiatives that advance Shorr’s sustainability goals. This role focuses on driving environmental responsibility and customer support through research, data analysis, reporting, and process improvement. The Sustainability Specialist collaborates across departments to implement innovative projects, track progress against sustainability metrics, and promote engagement through training and communication programs. Additionally, the role assists in evaluating suppliers for compliance and emerging product developments, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Responsibilities
Program & Project Support
- Support development and implementation of sustainability projects and innovative initiatives across departments (e.g., waste reduction programs, energy efficiency, carbon accounting, logistics, closed-loop recycling programs).
- Assist in evaluating suppliers and emerging product developments for sustainability performance and compliance with regulations.
- Help design training sessions, presentations, and division programs (e.g., Earth Day, Adopt-a-Trail, recycling/composting) to enhance culture of sustainability.
Data, Reporting & Research
- Gather environmental metrics (energy use, carbon emissions, water consumption, recycling rates, carbon reduction and offset opportunities) and help track and report progress against goals.
- Help compile internal and external-facing reports and data for assessments (EcoVadis, SBTis, customer requests, EPR reports).
- Stay up-to-date on sustainability trends, policies, regulations, products, third-party certifications, and technologies. Liaise with appropriate external groups to help advance our initiatives.

The targeted compensation for this position is between $65K - $75K base plus targeted bonus, depending on skills and experience of the selected candidate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability or similar field.
- Minimum 2 plus years of experience in a sustainability role preferred
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and standards preferred
- Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement, with curiosity to explore emerging technologies and best practices.
- Travel required for this position is up to 10%
