The Communication Studies department is seeking instructors for in-person/hybrid communication studies courses. Instructors teach college-level communication studies courses to transfer students and professional-technical students. They also contribute to the department's efforts to improve student retention and success.
Essential Job Duties:
Required Education and Experience
The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option of some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Essential Job Duties:
- Instruction in course subject matter as described above
- Development of course materials to support instruction
- Assignment of final grades to students
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in communication studies or related discipline from an accredited institution
- Experience teaching college-level communication studies courses (e.g. Intro to communication, Interpersonal communication, Public speaking)
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and other appropriate instructional technology
- Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
- Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of communication studies
- Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online
- Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
- Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
- Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and abilities
