ABOUT THE JOB

Shore Fire Media is looking for a sharp, ambitious publicity assistant to join our Brooklyn team. We’re seeking someone with a deep passion for pop culture and music. The ideal candidate should be excited by the opportunity to work across a diverse roster of clients, which may include artists, authors, comedians, creators, cultural tastemakers, entrepreneurs, leaders in the LGBTQ and drag communities and music venues and tours. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, welcomes feedback, manages multiple priorities effectively and is eager to learn.


WHAT YOU HAVE

• minimum one year experience in a comparable communications role or at least two PR / communications internships

• you have excellent time management, organizational skills and are detail-oriented

• you welcome challenges, take initiative and are an eager problem-solver

• you take direction well and are a team player with a growth mindset

• you have exemplary writing, communication and storytelling skills

• you are a voracious consumer of media and news

• you love the business of public relations and the business of music/entertainment


WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Learn the fundamentals of media relations, campaign strategy and client management through collaboration with publicists

• Work on multiple publicity campaigns from day one

• Draft written materials: press releases, pitch letters, media alerts, talking points, etc.

• Draft, update and deliver final press reports to supervisors

• Share daily press clippings with supervisor client

• Maintain organized and up-to-date client notes documents

• Collaborate with team members on campaign strategy

• Oversee logistics of appearances, interviews and events

• Attend press events, concerts, red carpets and meetings

• Log tour press requests, send invites, pitch previews, create press schedules

• Handle client communication stay on top of all emails and action items

• Confirm client calls confirm client interviews

• Cover client interviews via zoom and in-person

• Create calendar invites for interviews with clients additional calls

• Draft call agenda, take notes on calls and send recaps / next steps to client

• Communicate regularly with your supervisor about priorities, progress and any anticipated deadline changes

• Prioritize work in the context of each client's larger goals and timeline

• Pitch clients to media and other opportunities

This role is designed as an entry point into a long-term career in publicity. Assistants work directly alongside experienced publicists, participate in campaign strategy discussions and receive ongoing mentorship and feedback while gaining hands-on experience in media relations, client communications, strategy and event management. Integrated into active campaigns from day one, assistants develop the skills and expertise that have helped many former junior staff grow into more senior roles at Shore Fire.

SALARY RANGE: $46k - $48k
