Job Overview
Are you an energetic, team-oriented individual with a positive attitude? ShopSabre is looking for a General Laborer / Saw Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll play an essential part in operating, managing, and maintaining large-scale steel and aluminum cutting equipment. You’ll also contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations through maintaining equipment, organizing materials, and collaborating with a fantastic group of teammates.
What You’ll Do:
- Safely operate and maintain steel and aluminum cutting equipment, including band saws and metal fabrication machinery
- Read and interpret technical drawings, prints, and specs to ensure high-quality results
- Lay out, align, secure, and prioritize materials for production
- Perform preventative maintenance to keep machinery running smoothly
- Maintain steel inventory, manage requisition forms, verify deliveries, and track any shortages
- Organize and prepare steel for orders and stock, ensuring accurate and efficient workflow
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve downtime promptly
- Operate power tools like grinders, drills, taps, impacts, and saws
- Load/unload trucks and measure steel as needed
- Handle scrap material and ensure the workspace stays clean and organized
- Follow safety protocols and ensure the production environment is clean and safe for everyone
What We’re Looking For:
- Solid understanding of steel and aluminum cutting processes
- Previous experience with saw operation and metal fabrication is a big plus
- Experience in maintaining inventory and using steel requisition forms
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
- Comfortable using a range of power tools
- Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Forklift experience is a plus (training available)
