Behavioral Health Technician

We are a Recovery Housing organization dedicated to supporting individuals in recovery through stable, structured housing. This position is not a clinical role and does not involve therapy or treatment services. Instead, it is based at our recovery homes and focuses on supporting residents in their daily living environment. The role requires driving between locations and includes providing oversight, encouragement, and practical support to residents, ensuring house guidelines are followed, assisting with problem-solving, and helping create a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused community.

Typical duties include:

  • Client supervision & safety:

Monitor clients throughout the night, ensure safety, conduct room checks, and enforce program rules.

  • Observation & documentation:

Record client behaviors, moods, attendance, and participation within the house. Report significant changes to staff.

  • Crisis intervention:

De-escalate situations, provide emotional support, and follow protocols for clients in distress or relapse risk.

  • Drug/alcohol screening:

Administer UA (urine analysis) tests and breathalyzers, and document results according to policy.

  • Communication & teamwork:

Work closely with administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment that fosters dignity and respect for all clients.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals in recovery from substance abuse disorders and with developmental disabilities is essential.
  • Familiarity with crisis management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques is preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • (If you are in recovery, a minimum of 1 year sobriety)

Preferred qualifications

  • Background in special education or addiction counseling is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PTSD care and behavioral health practices is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and experience with medical documentation processes.
  • Strong boundaries and professionalism
  • Empathy and nonjudgmental attitude
  • Crisis management and de-escalation skills
  • Observation and documentation accuracy
  • Basic understanding of addiction, relapse, and recovery processes
  • Ability to model healthy behavior and accountability

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
