This role also owns outbound domestic and international logistics quoting and scheduling, serving as the single point of accountability for coordinating freight execution between Kitting, Shipping, and external logistics partners.

Summary
The Kitting Specialist owns day‑to‑day execution of the kitting operation, ensuring kits are built accurately, on time, and in accordance with standard work. This role also owns outbound domestic and international logistics quoting and scheduling, serving as the single point of accountability for coordinating freight execution between Kitting, Shipping, and external logistics partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Kitting Warehouse Associates.
- Execute and maintain standard work for kitting; identify gaps once live and drive improvements.
- Partner with Inventory Control to ensure material availability and accurate pulls.
- Coordinate with Packaging to ensure correct pack‑out, labeling, and customer requirements.
- Support time studies and labor modeling using the kitting calculator to right‑size staffing.
- Enforce safety, 5S, and material handling best practices.
- Own outbound domestic and international load scheduling for kitted material, ensuring alignment to production readiness, Incoterms (as applicable), and required ship dates.
- Oversee domestic freight quoting (LTL, FTL, Parcel) and international freight quoting (air, ocean, expedited) using approved carriers, forwarders, and routing guides.
- Validate shipment details prior to booking, including weights, dimensions, freight class, country of origin, and export requirements.
- Coordinate and review required international shipping documentation (e.g., commercial invoice, packing list, export filings) in partnership with Shipping, Trade Compliance, or external customs brokers.
- Serve as escalation point for carrier, forwarder, broker, capacity, cost, or service issues impacting outbound shipments.
- Coordinate closely with Shipping, Packaging, Planning, and external logistics partners to sequence work, pickups, and handoffs.
- Monitor outbound freight cost, mode selection, and service performance; identify opportunities for consolidation, mode optimization, and cost reduction.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, kitting, or inventory management
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or ERP software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 40–50 lbs, with assistance if needed)
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, inventory tracking tools)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, field services, or project-based environments
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight)
- Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement experience
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification
