JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Control Lab Group Leader will provide leadership and technical oversight for the Quality Control Laboratory at SHIROKI North America. Ensure all lab operations support product quality, measurement accuracy, and compliance with automotive industry standards. This role is essential in managing lab personnel, coordinating inspection activities, and supporting cross-functional teams in delivering reliable, defect-free components.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:
· Lead daily review and disposition of customer returns (RMAs)
· Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action for returned parts and internal quality issues
· Oversee daily and monthly PPM reporting (internal and total)
· Operate and program CMMs and Optical Comparators
· Maintain and update Control Plans, Inspection Standards (IS), FMEA, and support Line/Layered Process Audits
· Facilitate problem-solving boards and provide updates on corrective actions
· Support production operations and quality-related activities across departments
· Develop inspection standards for service parts and resolve SQPR issues
· Follow up on countermeasure implementation and effectiveness
· Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced lab environment
· Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
· Perform Cut & Etch Weld Analysis and verify dimensional accuracy
· Conduct manual layout inspections using surface plates and precision tools
· Supervise and train Lab Technicians, ensuring skill development and adherence to procedures
· Utilize software tools including Excel, Word, CAD, and PC-DMIS
· Conduct or assist in lab training programs for new and existing staff
· Set up, execute, and document product and material testing procedures
· Manage gage calibration and equipment control per QS and IATF 16949 standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Have a high school diploma or GED.
· Requires an Advanced Degree in related discipline and three (3) plus years’ experience in related field

· Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline and one (1) plus years’ experience in related field

· Associate’s degree in related discipline and three (3) plus years’ experience in related field

· Non-Degreed with five (5) or more years’ experience in a related field
· Certification may be required in some areas
· Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
· Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and program’s
· Automotive industry experience preferred, especially in Tier 1 or OEM environments
· Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC
· ASQ certifications (e.g., CQT, CQI, CQA) are highly desirable
· Proficient in integrated computer systems and quality data analysis tools
· Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
