What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher (Secondary) position at Shiprock Associated Schools, Inc.?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, or related field, from accredited college or university.
Valid New Mexico Special Education Licensure, with endorsement(s) as applicable.
Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) endorsement preferred.
Knowledgeable of PL 105 - IDEA Regulations.
Must be highly qualified according to New Mexico State Standards & Regulations.
Comprehensive knowledge of New Mexico PED Academic Standards required.
Must have or obtain -
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification for infant/child/adult
- Navajo Nation Food Handler's permit
- Crisis Prevention Institute - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification preferred
Bilingual in Dine & English preferred.
Must be able to meet minimum physical requirements: sitting, standing, lifting, carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required.
Must have valid state-issued driver's license.
**MUST be able to pass background checks for New Mexico state, Navajo Nation, and FBI.
SASI schools currently utilize Beyond Textbooks curriculum framework.
SASI is a Tribally Controlled school under the Bureau of Indian Education located on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, NM
