The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of a designated nursing unit within the skilled nursing facility. The Unit Manager ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care, supervises nursing staff, maintains regulatory compliance, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support resident health and well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the assigned nursing unit.
Supervise and support nursing staff including LPNs, CNAs, and other clinical personnel.
Ensure residents receive appropriate care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and facility policies.
Participate in care plan development and interdisciplinary care conferences.
Monitor documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Perform resident assessments and assist with care planning as needed.
Investigate and respond to incidents, accidents, and resident/family concerns.
Ensure proper medication administration practices and monitor treatment effectiveness.
Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to nursing staff.
Maintain infection control standards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory surveys.
Ensure compliance with regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Qualifications
Current, active LPN license in the state of Pennsylvania.
Minimum 2–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively.
