Let's be upfront about who we want

Not someone passing through. Not someone who needs six months of income while they sort out their next move. We're hiring someone who wants to become the person this building depends on.

That's not an exaggeration for a job ad. Inventory control is the role where being sloppy shows up three days later as a canceled order, an angry brand, and a picker standing in front of an empty bin. Get it right and nobody notices. Get it wrong and everybody does.

We're looking for the person who takes that personally.

What you'll actually be doing

Two big jobs, two halves of the day.

Mornings: you set the floor up to win. Before the picking carts start rolling, you're replenishing pick faces out of bulk storage - pulling from reserve, moving product down and scanning the correct number of units into pick bins, making sure every location a picker is about to walk to actually has product in it. When you do this well, the whole floor moves faster and nobody has to think about you. That's the goal.

The rest of the day: returns. Customer returns come in as a pile of unopened packages, and you turn them into clean data and usable inventory:

  • Open and sort by client and SKU
  • Grade condition: resellable, damaged, refurbish, dispose - using our standards, consistently
  • Update inventory in the system so the counts reflect reality
  • Log the activity accurately, because this is what we bill our clients on

That last line is the one to pay attention to. Your logging isn't paperwork. It's revenue. If it's wrong, we either undercharge ourselves or overcharge a client, and neither is acceptable.

Why this role is harder than it sounds

Returns are messy and inconsistent by nature. No two boxes are the same. Judgment calls come up constantly; is this resellable or not? Is this the right SKU or a lookalike? Did the customer send back something entirely different from what they ordered? (Yes. It happens weekly.)

You'll have clear standards to work from, and you'll get trained on them. But we need someone who applies them the same way at 4 p.m. on a Friday as they did at 9 a.m. on a Monday.

We keep score here too

This is a fast-paced, competitive building and this role is not exempt from that. You'll have volume targets, accuracy expectations, and a morning replenishment window that needs to be closed before picking ramps up. The numbers are visible and people care about them.

The difference in your role: accuracy beats speed, every time. We'd rather you process fewer returns correctly than blaze through a cart and leave us with inventory we can't trust.

You'll thrive here if you

  • Are detail-obsessed in a way your last job maybe didn't fully appreciate
  • Work well without someone hovering - you'll have a lot of ownership over your area
  • Can spot when something doesn't add up and dig into it instead of shrugging
  • Actually like organizing chaos into order
  • Are comfortable on your feet and lifting for a full shift; this is not a desk job
  • Want to build a career in fulfillment operations, not fill a gap on a resume

Don't apply if you

  • Are looking for temporary work
  • Need constant direction to stay busy
  • Are okay with "close enough" on a count
  • Want to work entirely alone with no accountability, or entirely supervised with no responsibility

What you get

  • $20/hour starting, with room to grow as you take on more and higher-level needs open up
  • Full-time, permanent, consistent schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm
  • Benefits: medical/dental/vision, paid company holidays
  • Real growth potential. Inventory control is the best training ground in this building for lead and supervisor roles, because you touch every client and every process.
  • A team that shows up, does the work, and doesn't leave - our turnover is low and we intend to keep it that way

The physical stuff (the required-to-say-it part)

Essential functions include standing and walking for the duration of the shift, frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 60 lbs, and operating a pallet jack / order picker / other equipment after training. Reasonable accommodations available - just ask.

Requirements

  • 18 and legally authorized to work in the US
  • Basic computer comfort - you'll be working in our warehouse management system daily
  • Reliable transportation and reliable attendance
  • Inventory, receiving, returns, or WMS experience is a strong plus. Not required if you bring the right attention to detail; we'll teach the system.
