What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Manager position at Shineforth?
SUMMARY
The Volunteer Manager will work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and Volunteerism to enhance the mission and vision of Shineforth Child and Family Services through our volunteer and community engagement efforts. The Volunteer Manager at Shineforth is responsible for building and sustaining a strong volunteer program while cultivating strategic relationships with faith communities, corporate partners, and other civic and community organizations. This role advances Shineforth’s mission by expanding outreach, coordinating speaking engagements, and fostering collaborative opportunities that support children and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Volunteer Management:
- Engage new and existing volunteer groups and individual volunteers to support the strategic goals of Shineforth.
- Assess and capture mission-aligned projects to optimize volunteer engagement
- Recruit, on-board, support volunteers who work directly with our kids and families.
- Work closely with the Greenhouse Manager to coordinate and supervise volunteer groups to support greenhouse and community garden and beautification projects on our flagship campus.
- Coordinate and accept all gift-in-kind donations and “kit” volunteer projects on and off-campus
Community Partner Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations aligned with Shineforth’s mission (to include faith communities, businesses, civic groups, and schools)
- Coordinate collaborative initiatives, service projects and volunteer opportunities with partner organizations (to include faith communities, businesses, civic groups, and schools)
- Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements with churches, businesses, and community groups for Shineforth leaders and development team
- Represent Shineforth Child and Family Services at events, presentations, and other outreach opportunities
Project Coordination:
- Plan and execute volunteer-driven events, outreach activities, partnership initiatives, and stewardship efforts
- Collaborate with internal teams to align volunteer and partnership efforts with program needs and support teams
- Support fundraising events through volunteer mobilization and partner engagement
- Maintain databases and records for volunteers, partnerships, and speaking engagements
- Track and report key performance indicators related to volunteer engagement and partnerships
- Manage calendars, communications, and logistics for events and collaborations
- Work a schedule to occasionally include evenings and weekends.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills essential.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, especially across diverse communities
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Experience with public speaking or presenting to groups preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment
- Passion for supporting children and families
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, communications, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or partnership development
CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and proof of insurance.
