Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Technical Support Scientist Intern to work with our Technical Support team in Carlsbad, CA. In this role, you will assist with laboratory-based activities, application support tasks, and operational processes that ensure analytical instrumentation is functioning at a high level. You will work under the guidance of experienced technical staff while gaining exposure to how scientific instruments are applied in real-world scenarios and how technical teams support both internal stakeholders and customer-facing initiatives.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Technical Support Scientist Intern to work with our Technical Support team in Carlsbad, CA. In this role, you will assist with laboratory-based activities, application support tasks, and operational processes that ensure analytical instrumentation is functioning at a high level. You will work under the guidance of experienced technical staff while gaining exposure to how scientific instruments are applied in real-world scenarios and how technical teams support both internal stakeholders and customer-facing initiatives.
Job Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Assist with data collection and analysis using analytical instrumentation
- Support application development activities under guidance of technical staff
- Prepare standards and samples following established laboratory procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure precision in laboratory work
- Follow all laboratory safety and compliance protocols
- Assist in maintaining instrumentation readiness and operational condition
- Support inventory and asset management processes
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Basic understanding of laboratory practices and scientific instrumentation
- Strong attention to detail and process discipline
- Experience with Shimadzu instrumentation is a plus
- Prior analytical or laboratory experience preferred
