During Your Internship, You Will Have The Opportunity To
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Service Technician Intern to support the service team in Carlsbad, CA. In this role, you will assist with a combination of technical and operational tasks, including basic instrument testing, refurbishment support, inventory organization, and general office operations. You will also observe troubleshooting workflows and diagnostic processes to gain insight into how service teams maintain instrument performance and support customers. This internship provides valuable exposure to technical service operations, instrumentation maintenance, and regional service support workflows.

In this role, you will assist with a combination of technical and operational tasks, including basic instrument testing, refurbishment support, inventory organization, and general office operations. You will also observe troubleshooting workflows and diagnostic processes to gain insight into how service teams maintain instrument performance and support customers. This internship provides valuable exposure to technical service operations, instrumentation maintenance, and regional service support workflows.
Job Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Support routine maintenance and preventative care activities under supervision
- Assist with basic testing and refurbishment of instrumentation
- Support minor troubleshooting and repair tasks under guidance
- Observe diagnostic processes to understand structured service workflows
- Assist with cataloging and organizing service parts inventory
- Maintain accurate inventory documentation and tracking records
- Prepare outgoing shipments and packages
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Interest in instrumentation, service operations, or hands-on technical work
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures and structured processes
- Basic technical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Experience with chromatography or scientific instrumentation is a plus
