What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Stack Growth Engineer position at shift?
ABOUT SHIFT
Shift pays everyday people to record first-person footage of real-world tasks — repairs, cleaning, cooking, trade work — using a simple phone-mount headset. We're building the dataset that trains the next generation of physical AI systems. We're scaling our B2C operator program and B2B trade partnerships across the US.
We move fast. We ship. We figure it out.
THE ROLE
- We need a builder — someone who's shipped product under real constraints, ideally as a founder or early engineer at a YC-caliber company. You'll own the full technical side of growth: the funnels, the automations, the referral systems, and the internal tooling that lets a small team operate like a much larger one.
- You'll set the technical direction for growth infrastructure, partner with leadership on what to prioritize, and ship it.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD
- Growth infrastructure: signup flows, referral systems, attribution/UTM tracking, lead scoring
- Full-stack features across operator and partner-facing surfaces — web app, internal tools, dashboards
- A/B experiments across acquisition channels — instrument first, optimize second
- Internal tooling that multiplies the leverage of a lean ops/BD team
- Whatever the data says to build next — you'll have real roadmap input
YOU HAVE
- Full-stack engineering chops: modern JS/TS stack — React, Node, Postgres or similar
- Founder, early employee, or growth-engineering experience at a YC (or YC-caliber) startup
- A growth-hacker mentality — you instrument before you guess, and you can point to a metric you moved
- Strong bias toward shipping over planning; you've operated under real constraints
- Based in or willing to relocate to NYC
WHY SHIFT
- You're not joining a big company to maintain someone else's system — you're building ours
- Direct access to founders; real equity, not token options
- Physical AI is one of the most important infrastructure bets of the next decade — you'll be early
- Competitive salary meaningful equity; details shared in first conversation
- We work until the job is done — late nights aren't the exception here, they're part of building something real
