Senior Investment Professional - Capital Raising & Investor Relations
Location: San Rafael, CA (On-Site)
Schedule: Must be in office 4 days per week in San Rafael
Shields Group Search is representing a San Francisco Bay Area-based real estate investment and development firm specializing in value-add neighborhood and necessity-based retail properties throughout the U.S.
Since 2010, the firm has acquired and developed 77 retail assets across 46 metros and has built a strong track record of delivering returns for its growing investor base. With over $500 million in gross asset value, the firm’s vertically integrated team combines institutional rigor with entrepreneurial agility across acquisitions, development, leasing, and asset management.
The firm is currently investing through Fund III, targeting mid-cap value-add retail assets and net-leased development opportunities that have historically been underserved by institutional capital.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Investment Professional to lead capital raising and investor relations. This role will focus on securing equity commitments from family offices, RIAs, HNWIs, endowments, foundations, and smaller institutional LPs for both deal-by-deal opportunities and Fund III.
The ideal candidate has a strong investor network, deep real estate capital markets experience, and the ability to communicate a compelling narrative around necessity-based retail investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead equity fundraising across the firm’s active investment pipeline and Fund III
- Develop and maintain relationships with family offices, RIAs, endowments, foundations, and institutional investors
- Prepare and present investment materials, offering memoranda, and fund collateral
- Manage the investor lifecycle from initial outreach through closing and reporting
- Support strategic structuring of offerings and maintain CRM records
Qualifications
- 8 years in real estate private equity, investment banking, or capital markets
- Demonstrated capital raising experience with a broad range of sophisticated LPs; a track record in accessing smaller non-institutional capital at scale is a plus
- Deep understanding of real estate deal structures and fund mechanics
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Entrepreneurial, self-starter, and comfortable in a lean, high-performing team
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
