Senior Product Designer
Location: New York City or Los Angeles, hybrid
Compensation: $150,000-$180,000 base salary 10% target cash bonus equity
About the Company
Our client is an open-architecture private banking platform for wealth managers. The company partners with leading bank and non-bank financial institutions, including enterprise investment advisors, insurance carriers, and family offices, to deliver cash management, credit, and AI-powered analytics to wealthy individuals and families.
The company operates at the intersection of modern design, high finance, and technology, creating a unique opportunity to help shape the future of private banking.
About the Position
We are hiring a Senior Product Designer for a hands-on role suited to someone who can take a problem from an ambiguous brief through to a shipped interface.
You will report to the Head of Product, who previously served as the company’s Lead Product Designer, and own the end-to-end design process. This includes problem definition, research and discovery, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, prototyping, and engineering handoff.
The ideal candidate will bring five to eight years of strong product design experience and a desire to grow into the company’s Lead Product Designer. Your portfolio should demonstrate examples of leading projects and taking on increasing levels of scope throughout your previous roles.
You will work closely with product and engineering teams and lead design discussions across the organization. You will receive direct support and mentorship from the Head of Product, allowing you to expand your ownership as the platform and team scale.
This is a fast-moving, agile environment. The role requires fluency in contemporary design and prototyping tools, a working command of design systems, and the curiosity to continuously raise your own bar.
Experience working at a startup, fintech company, investment bank, commercial bank, registered investment advisor, or similar institution is a strong plus, but it is not required.
This contract-to-permanent or full-time position provides a clear path to becoming an integral part of the growing team. The company fosters a collaborative environment where direct client interaction and professional development are fundamental to its success.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end UX/UI delivery, including discovery, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity design, prototypes, and engineering handoff.
- Lead design across multiple concurrent workstreams, managing your own process and sequencing with support from the Head of Product.
- Extend and maintain the company’s design system, contributing components and patterns that hold up across the platform.
- Partner with engineering throughout implementation to ensure that what ships matches what was designed.
- Translate product requirements and client needs into clear, defensible design solutions and present the rationale behind them.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and de-risk major flows.
- Grow into broader design ownership over time, taking on greater scope, autonomy, and eventually the Lead Product Designer position.
Required Skills and Experience
- Five to eight years of product design experience, ideally including exposure to financial services, fintech, or enterprise software.
- Evidence of owning features end-to-end, from problem definition through shipped product.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating complex, systems-driven work.
- Deep fluency in Figma, including components, variants, auto layout, and design system contribution.
- Solid grounding in user-centered design principles and research methodologies.
- A working understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions to product, engineering, and clients.
Target Candidate
- Ambitious and growth-oriented.
- Experienced in designing for financial institutions or fintech products.
- Interested in or experienced with complex data visualization and data-dense interfaces.
- Familiar with front-end development principles and the Figma-to-code pipeline.
- Comfortable in client-facing settings and able to translate client feedback into product direction.
- Able to thrive with autonomy and direct feedback in a small, fast-moving team.
How Performance Will Be Measured
- End-to-end delivery of assigned projects on schedule and at a high standard of craft.
- Meaningful contribution to and adoption of design system components.
- Development of a functioning design pipeline between Figma and the company’s codebase.
- Reduced client friction during critical interactions.
- Improved user engagement metrics.
- Reduced time-to-market for new features.
- Positive feedback from clients and internal stakeholders regarding work output.
- Demonstrated growth in scope, autonomy, and design leadership during your first year.
This is an opportunity to make your mark on a cutting-edge wealth-tech platform, with a clear pathway to leading a growing design team.
