Role Description

This is a Part-time, on-site role for a Machine Mechanic located in Ronkonkoma, NY. The Machine Mechanic (Changeover Specialist) is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and rapid changeovers on production equipment. This role ensures machines are set up correctly for each product run, minimizes downtime, and maintains high-quality output in a manufacturing environment.

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on packaging machinery to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace defective parts, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Assist in the installation and setup of new packaging equipment, adhering to assembly instructions and specifications.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and documentation for all repairs and inspections.
• Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance schedules without disrupting workflow.
• Ensure all work complies with FDA regulations, CGMP standards, and safety protocols.
• Perform and support packaging line changeovers, including setup, adjustments, and format part installation
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as needed for material handling and equipment movement (preferred)

• ACG packaging machines (preferred)

Requirements

• Proven experience with mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
• Strong knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems.
• Familiarity with FDA regulations, CGMP guidelines, and industry best practices for pharmaceutical or food packaging.
• Mechanical knowledge related to machinery assembly, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely (certification preferred).
• Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing setting is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety compliance.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality packaging operations within a dynamic manufacturing facility while developing technical skills in machinery maintenance and automation systems.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing packaging machinery (pharma preferred)
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (motors, belts, gears, sensors, pneumatics, etc.)
• Experience performing packaging equipment changeovers, including setup and format adjustments
• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
• Experience with ACG machines strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and prioritize urgent repairs
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on production floors in an active environment

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
