Shield HealthCare is looking for a Utilization Management Summer Intern in our Valencia, CA corporate office to process documents within specified software supporting order processing, documentation, and customer needs. This role will also support interdepartmental cross-functionality with exposure to the Utilization Management Customer Support team.
This is an on-site position in Valencia, CA
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process prescription responses received from clinicians.
- Process authorization responses received from insurance plans.
- Review clinicals, completing data entry and achieving documents in specified programs and locations.
- Complete document staging for authorization renewals.
- Process failed faxes.
- Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, scanning, document preparation, and record organization.
- Support cross-functional projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Assist in documenting workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in business administration, communications, marketing, healthcare administration, health sciences, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized with the ability to work accurately, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Data entry experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
SALARY:
- $18.47/hour
