Freight Preparation Specialist

Job Summary:

SHETLER/DERBY MOVING & STORAGE, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Freight Preparation Specialist to support daily logistics and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing freight shipments, inspecting items for transport readiness, ensuring accurate documentation, and coordinating with warehouse and transportation teams to facilitate efficient and secure deliveries. This role is essential to maintaining smooth supply chain operations and high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare freight shipments for local and long-distance transportation.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing goods for accuracy and condition.
• Label, package, palletize, and secure freight according to company and industry standards.
• Verify shipping documents, inventory records, and freight manifests.
• Coordinate shipment schedules with warehouse personnel and transportation providers.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
• Maintain organized storage areas and staging locations.
• Track shipment status and update logistics systems accurately.
• Follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
• Assist with inventory counts and warehouse organization projects.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, shipping, or freight handling preferred.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience with inventory management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Forklift certification is a plus but not required.

Pay: $19.80 - $22.50 per hour
