Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant to support the daily housekeeping and laundry needs of our assisted living community. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring resident linens and personal laundry are washed, dried, folded, and returned in a timely and sanitary manner, while also assisting with routine housekeeping and floor care as needed. This role plays an important part in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and respectful living environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident personal laundry and facility linens according to established procedures
- Handle personal clothing and linens with care to prevent damage or loss
- Label or verify proper identification of residents’ clothing as needed
- Operate commercial washers and dryers; perform basic cleaning of equipment or report maintenance concerns
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the laundry room and related work areas
- Assist with general housekeeping tasks as assigned, including cleaning common areas and service spaces
- Perform routine floor care on a limited basis, such as carpet cleaning, floor buffing, and spot cleaning
- Follow infection control, safety, and chemical handling guidelines at all times
- Communicate and work collaboratively with housekeeping, caregiving, and leadership staff
- Report lost, damaged, or unclaimed items to the appropriate personnel
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity, and personal belongings at all times
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in laundry, housekeeping, or custodial services preferred (senior living or healthcare experience a plus)
- Ability to safely operate commercial laundry equipment; floor care experience helpful but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds as needed
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional, friendly, and respectful demeanor
- Must pass background check and drug screening
