Job Description:
Sherpa Air is looking for an Aircraft Inspector for its Part 145 operation. We are looking for a skilled Inspector to perform detailed inspections on turboprop, small to medium sized corporate and commuter jets. To ensure accurate documentation, verify compliance with FAA regulation and repair station procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary, hidden damage, detailed, general visual, and final inspections on aircraft, engines, propellers, and accessories.
- Audit maintenance work packages, work orders, and logbook entries for completeness and compliance with 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the applicable regulations and with the inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness of the article on which maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations are being performed.
- Perform receiving inspections on materials being used under the repair station
- Follow all company and maintenance manual procedures.
- Assist junior technicians with research and understanding of work scopes.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area. Help with other housekeeping duties as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical demands:
- Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces.
- Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders.
- Must be able to frequently lift and pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.
- Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Active Airframe and Powerplant certification from the FAA.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a quality inspector on turboprop and light to medium jet aircraft, demonstrating a thorough understanding of their mechanical and flight systems.
- Great attitude and team player, good with training new or less trained personnel to grow the business.
- Proficiency in utilizing advanced computerized maintenance tracking programs such as CAMP Systems, eBis, and FlightDocs is required to ensure accurate and efficient oversight of aircraft maintenance schedules and histories.
- Use of Microsoft windows computer and the Microsoft software suite (word, excel, outlook, etc)
- Must be a US citizen
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.S. or B.S. in an Aviation program.
- FAA Inspector Authorization (IA)
- Have leadership experience.
- Background in avionics including the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft electronic systems.
- Background in structures including repairs and modifications to metal structures.
- Experience working with composite materials, knowledgeable in the latest repair and fabrication techniques, contributing to the structural integrity and performance of modern aircraft.
Other Requirements:
- Must own basic inspection tools for inspecting aircraft. Specialized tooling will be provided by the company.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Good communication skills.
- Valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one
