    JOB TITLE:
    Summer School Teacher/Credit Recovery and Advancement (9-12)
    REPORTS TO: Summer School Principal
    TIMEFRAME: June 1 - July 2, 2026
    JOB OVERVIEW:
    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Summer School Teacher to join our team and lead instruction for students in grades 9- 12. The ideal candidate will be familiar with curriculum, possess strong skills in progress monitoring, have expertise in implementing routines, and demonstrate the ability to use data effectively to plan and adjust whole and small group instruction, including the use of decodables. This position involves weekly data analysis sessions to inform instructional planning and direct student instruction. There will be some required training during April and May. Staff will be paid the contracted rate of $35 an hour.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Curriculum & Credit Pathways
    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of district curriculum and graduation requirements.
    • Deliver instruction aligned to both credit recovery benchmarks and advancement pathways, ensuring students meet course completion requirements or accelerate progress where appropriate.
    • Support students in completing missing coursework, mastering essential standards, and progressing toward on-time graduation.
    Data-Driven Instruction
    • Utilize data, including progress monitoring, to assess student literacy development.
    • Conduct weekly data analysis sessions to identify areas of improvement and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
    Instructional Planning
    • Develop detailed weekly lesson plans based on curriculum standards, SRSD routines, and student performance data.
    • Implement engaging and differentiated instructional activities to meet the diverse needs of students, incorporating the use of decodables.
    Direct Instruction
    • Provide direct instruction to students in grades 9-12
    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
    • Supervise, monitor, and attend weekly field trips.
    Progress Monitoring
    • Implement ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
    • Keep detailed records of student performance and communicate progress to parents and stakeholders.
    SRSD Implementation
    • Effectively implement Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) routines to enhance students' writing and comprehension skills.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Valid teaching license with appropriate endorsement.
    • Experience working with secondary students (grades 9–12), particularly in credit recovery, intervention, or accelerated learning environments.
    • Familiarity with the Wonders curriculum and its effective implementation.
    • Proficiency in progress monitoring tools, particularly Lexia.
    • Knowledge and experience in implementing SRSD routines.
    • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform instructional decisions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Classroom management expertise.
    DURATION:
    This is a temporary position for the duration of the summer school program.
