Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Litigation Case Assistant to support the Business Trial Practice Group in our Century City office.
Job Summary
The Litigation Case Assistant provides litigation support to a team of attorneys and paralegals across all phases of litigation, from initial case intake through trial and appeal. Responsibilities include assisting with preparation and management of litigation documents and filings, calendaring deadlines, and case organization and logistics. The role requires strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, comfort working with large volumes of information, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work with a develop AI protocols for data organization will be an ongoing aspect of this position. Collaboration with firm personnel at all levels is integral to success. It is a great position for someone looking to go to law school.
Essential Functions
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, plus some relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree or some college is preferred.
Computer/Software Knowledge
Must have proficiency in Windows 11, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and Teams, and experience working with a document management system. Must be able to quickly learn new skills and systems.

Essential Functions
- Format, edit, proofread, and manage litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery, briefs, and correspondence, consistent with court and client requirements.
- Assist with document production workflows, including organizing materials for review, tracking production status, and maintaining case files, including via the use of AI and other technologies.
- Helping to organize client materials, track deadlines, and maintaining matter documentation.
- Coordinate and calendar court dates, filing deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and internal/client meetings.
- Prepare and maintain case calendars, reminders, and task lists; follow up to ensure deadlines and action items are met.
- Assist with trial/hearing/depositions/arbitration preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness materials, and hearing/deposition/trial notebooks (electronic and hard copy as needed).
- Maintain and organize matter files in accordance with firm practices; ensure documents are filed and saved consistently and can be located quickly.
- Must be available and able to work during core business hours.
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with shifting priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong skills in organization and attention to detail, with a commitment to producing accurate work product.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and staff.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and maintaining discretion with sensitive information.
- Flexibility to support varying case needs, including occasional after-hours work.
