What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Specialist, Howard County Crisis, Full Time Days position at Sheppard Pratt?
Responsibilities:
- Serve as first point of contact to patients, their families/representatives, outside agencies, and referrers to respond to inquiries for outpatient admission or referral.
- Gather required demographic and insurance data, ensure that patient has completed all information to provide past psychiatric history, identify appropriate clinicians, and schedule appointments.
- Work closely with other offices to coordinate efforts and ensure timely, quality customer service for all inquiries.
- Enter charge data into computer system within 24 to 48 hours, matching authorization information to charge ticket to facilitate billing and reimbursement.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- One to two years positively referenced work experience.
- Valid driver’s license or alternative transportation plan.
- Knowledge of community resources in social, medical, and mental health areas, and knowledge of health insurance terminology, plan coverage, carriers, and reimbursement procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computer with Windows and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to assess and prioritize clients' needs and respond appropriately.
- Skill in effective communication with others, orally and in writing.
- Skill in clerical work: typing, data compilation, filing, etc., including overall attention to detail and follow through.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Analytical ability sufficient to gather and interpret data, apply knowledge of programs to patient needs, investigate and resolve patient concerns and questions, maintain outpatient admission and insurance records, and handle designated administrative detail.
