What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Services Cashier/Barista position at Sheppard Pratt Careers?
What to expect.
You will play a crucial role in performing various food service assignments related to the serving of food to patients, staff, visitors, and guests on a rotating basis.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Operate and maintain the coffee café of the Hospital's dining hall during scheduled hours
- Determine and communicate order cost; operate the electronic cash register; check and count money to assure accuracy of register and receipts
- Prepare coffee beverages and related orders according to specific instructions
- Perform a variety of food service assignments, including the preparation and set-up of the café food and service area, food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness of area and equipment, stocking foods, and supplies

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.
- Ability to read, write and speak English well enough to follow verbal and written instructions, perform calculations and use an adding machine and POS system, accurately handle money, deal effectively with a wide variety of staff and customers, and use direct reading devices where interpretation is not required.
- 3 months' food service or cashier experience in order to gain cashier and money-handling skills, and expertise with customer service, portion control, short order food preparation, sanitation, and safe operation of café equipment.
