Early Learning Support Teacher-Full Time
Shepherd’s Way Day School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dedicated Support Teacher to join our team, specifically working with our toddlers and twos. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our center and plays a key part in creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally rich environment. The Support Teacher provides classroom coverage, supports daily routines, and helps ensure that every child receives high‑quality care and attention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide warm, attentive care to our toddlers and twos. Ensuring safety, supervision, and emotional support.
- Support classroom routines, including feeding, bottle preparation, diapering, and assisting with potty training.
- Engage children in age‑appropriate activities such as songs, stories, sensory play, and simple learning experiences.
- Build positive, responsive relationships with children and help maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment.
- Communicate with families in a professional, friendly manner regarding daily activities and child well‑being.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized classroom spaces and materials.
- Provide scheduled breaks and lunch coverage for classroom teachers.
- Assist with center‑wide tasks and transitions to support smooth daily operations.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare or early learning setting preferred.
- Understanding of basic child development principles and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to engage children in meaningful, age‑appropriate activities.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift and carry children, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Must pass a background check
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
