What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher position at Shepherd's Care?
Shepherd's Care is a Christian Childcare Center located in Maple Grove, This position requires you to assist the teachers in providing a warm and nurturing environment for children to meet their physical, mental, spiritual, social and emotional needs. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with policies and procedures. Works under direct supervision of the Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Must be pleasant, respectful, and courteous to all children, families, visitors and fellow employees at all times.
Qualifications:
Loves working and playing with children
Ability to perceive children’s needs and
Develop positive relationships with children and families
Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations
Supervises a class with the Lead Teacher
Helps the teacher implement the daily lesson plans and classroom activities
Helps with necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds
Works effectively in a team
Ability to adapt to frequent changes in activity, priorities, and/or work schedules
Supervises a classroom of children and gives direction to the aide as needed
Ability to exercise patience at all times
Ability to communicate sensitive information
Requirements:
CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors
Must be able to get up and down off the floor, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in activity with children
Be able to communicate with children and their parents in English
Meet Minnesota DHS qualifications for position and pass required DHS background check
A High School diploma or equivalent
The ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience (MN DHS Rule 3 Qualifications)
Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work
- Must be at least 18 years of age
