POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Resident Technology Specialist DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Information Technology
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Resident Technology Services
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing all technology services for SVWC’s residents and guests. It serves as the introduction of the IT department to all new residents and should provide a welcoming customer experience. Will be responsible for meeting all new residents on move-in to review SVWC’s technology services and coordinate the setup of their devices. (PCs, tablets, phones, smart phones, printers, TVs, cable boxes, DVRs, sound systems, and other consumer-based technology).
The position is also responsible for ensuring residents and guests technology requests for support or set up of devices as described above are completed in a timely manner. Provide educational sessions on a variety of technical subjects. Services could be delivered remotely or in their home.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSURE:
1. Associate degree in information systems or two years’ work experience or equivalent knowledge of troubleshooting desktops or help desk environment required.
2. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or A certification highly desirable.
3. Working knowledge of Windows 10, 11, Mac OSX, Android, and iOS required.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc. required.
5. Ability to install and troubleshoot a variety of applications.
6. Proficient with setting up and troubleshooting PC’s, Apple/Mac products, printers, tablets, smartphones, TV’s, etc. required.
7. Basic understanding of networking required.
8. Ability to communicate and have patience working with senior population.
9. Outgoing personality with the capability to encourage the use of technology.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Support the mission and purposes of SVWC.
2. Support the Board of Trustees and Administration.
3. Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC.
4. Employment and annual Tuberculosis testing as required by Virginia State Licensure.
5. Being up to date with COVID-19 vaccination is highly encourgaged.
6. Must attend annual mandatory in-services required by the State Licensure and all other mandatory in services and/or meetings required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
7. Must promote positive language and culture change understanding for all older adults.
8. Present a professional, caring image.
9. Must be able to handle emergency situations and associated stress.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide help desk support to residents and guests.
2. Respond to all help desk requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner to quickly troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, keeping the resident informed of status and timing.
3. Install, configure, and troubleshoot SVWC and resident owned equipment, including, but not limited to the following: PC’s, tablets, telephones, TV’s, smart phones, sound systems, Bluetooth devices, etc..
4. Assist residents with hardware and software problems.
5. Install and upgrade operating systems and other software.
6. Assist residents with TV streaming services.
7. Assist residents with setup/training on company provided technology including, but not limited to: phones/voicemail, WI-FI, Resident Portal, FullCount POS Portal, TV services, etc.
8. Assist with technology needs for resident events and programs. May include some nights and weekends.
9. Responsible for managing and updating the Resident Portal.
10. Abide by all SVWC policies and procedures.
11. Collaborate with staff and residents on evaluating new resident technology/services.
12. Conduct training classes on a variety of technical subjects.
13. Oversee all resident technology services and development of new opportunities.
14. Document all help desk support calls on internal ticketing system.
15. Assist IT department with big projects as time permits.
16. Other duties as assigned.
