Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Physician/Medical Director role based in Winchester, VA. As Physician, they will provide medical care and participate in the resident’s care plan by providong community with pertinent information regarding past medical history, medication, and treatment orders, diet orders, and other orders for routine care to improve functional abilities.
As Medical Director, they are responsible for coordinating medical care and helping to implement and evaluate resident care policies that reflect professional standards of practice.
Qualifications
- Current MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or related specialty).
- Active, unrestricted license (or eligibility for licensure) to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Board certification or board eligibility in a relevant specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine).
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in geriatric medicine, long-term care, or continuing care retirement communities.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and development of evidence-based treatment plans for older adults with complex medical needs.
- Comfort collaborating in an interdisciplinary setting with nursing, therapy (physical, occupational, speech, music), chaplaincy, and administrative staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with residents, families, and colleagues in a diverse community.
- Ability to document accurately and efficiently in electronic medical records and navigate healthcare technology systems.
