Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Drainage Utility Pipe Foreman to lead field crews performing drainage system installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with storm drainage and underground utility construction and be capable of safely and efficiently directing crews, equipment, materials, and daily field operations.

A strong background in drainage pipe installation and repair is required. Experience with asphalt restoration, concrete finishing, water utilities, and sanitary sewer utilities is highly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise crews performing storm drainage pipe installation, repair, replacement, and rehabilitation.
  • Perform and oversee installation of drainage pipe, structures, catch basins, inlets, manholes, culverts, and related components.
  • Plan daily crew activities and coordinate labor, equipment, materials, trucking, and site access.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, grades, elevations, and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain proper line, grade, slope, and elevations for drainage installations.
  • Direct excavation, trenching, bedding, pipe installation, backfilling, and compaction operations.
  • Identify existing underground utilities and ensure work is performed safely around active utilities.
  • Coordinate dewatering, trench protection, shoring, and excavation safety as required.
  • Monitor crew productivity and ensure work is completed efficiently and according to project requirements.
  • Inspect completed work for quality before backfilling or restoration.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Communicate daily progress, field conditions, material needs, delays, and potential problems to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with inspectors, subcontractors, other utility crews, and project personnel as needed.
  • Complete or assist with daily reports, quantities, timekeeping, equipment usage, and material tracking.
  • Assist crew members with field work when necessary to maintain production and meet project schedules.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in storm drainage installation and repair is required.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising underground utility or drainage crews.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfill, and compaction procedures.
  • Ability to understand drainage grades, elevations, slopes, and pipe alignments.
  • Ability to read construction plans and utility drawings.
  • Experience working around existing underground utilities.
  • Knowledge of trench safety and excavation requirements.
  • Ability to safely coordinate excavators, loaders, backhoes, compactors, pumps, and other construction equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, inspectors, and project management.
  • Ability to identify field problems and make practical decisions to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. – Class A preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding construction activities as needed.
  • Ability to communicate and furnish digital daily reports, provide daily photos and jobsite documentation including material delivery tickets received for job

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly preferred:

  • Asphalt patching and roadway restoration
  • Finish concrete work, including sidewalks, curbs, gutters, aprons, and concrete restoration
  • Water utility piping, including installation and repair
  • Sanitary sewer utility piping, including installation and repair
  • Manhole and drainage structure installation
  • Roadway and right-of-way utility construction
  • Dewatering operations
  • Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • Utility locating and working around active utilities
  • Testing and inspection procedures for underground utilities

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
