Job Summary: Veterinary assistants provide support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians by assisting with patient care, restraint, patient monitoring, and client communication. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, caring, and eager to grow in the veterinary field.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Safely handle and restrain animals for x-rays, exams, etc.
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
- Collect detailed histories from clients, and perform TPR evaluations for records.
- Perform basic tasks such as cleaning instruments, stocking supplies, and monitoring patients
- Detailed record keeping and client communication
- Follow clinic protocols and safety procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience performing veterinary assistant tasks preferred
- Must be eligible for a Medical Clerk License
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift more than 20lbs
