Wood Production Lead (RPD)
Location: Rexburg, ID
Department: RPD | Manufacturing Operations
Reports to: Production Manager
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Experience: 5 years leading part of or an entire woodshop
Job Overview
Your job is to hit the daily production goal and make your crew more excellent every week. You run your area day-to-day so the work that leaves your area is accurate and ready for the next step.
You own your crew's production output. If something’s going to slow you down—missing parts, broken tools, unclear instructions—you bring it up early so it can be fixed without causing delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily production in your area to hit the goals set by the Production Manager and Production Scheduler.
- Keep work moving in order: start on-time and hand off accurate work.
- Train your crew so skills go up and mistakes go down.
- Do it right the first time. If something’s off, fix it when you can—or raise your hand fast so it doesn’t create late orders.
- Keep safety tight. Stop work for serious safety issues and get the Production Manager involved immediately.
- Keep machines, tools, jigs, fixtures, and workstations production-ready and communicate maintenance or tooling needs early.
- Train and enforce approved woodshop recipes, machine settings, jigs, fixtures, and quality standards.
- Maintain clean, organized workstations and ensure needed materials and consumables are available or shortages are raised early.
- Support new-product production by helping develop practical methods, and workflows and identifying manufacturability problems.
- Continually improve setup time, workflow, material usage, quality, and output without compromising safety or product standards.
- Fulcrum discipline (non-negotiable): track every job, every day in Fulcrum—no exceptions.
Who you work with and what you talk about:
- Production Manager: daily goals, tools, process needs, training needs, breakdowns, tool/machine problems and anything that stops you from meeting your daily goals.
- Quality Manager: holds, rework support, and the repeat issues coming out of your area.
KPIs
Daily Production Is On-time

What “great” looks like
- Your area starts on time and stays on track all day.
- The team knows the target, and jobs move in order without getting stuck.
- Work leaves your lane clean and correct—never “close enough” or sent downstream with problems.
- Skills keep climbing: fewer mistakes, better output, less scrambling to catch up. Your entire team knows how to run every machine and work in every station.
- Issues get called early, so we fix them before they turn into late orders.
- My work left the shop right the first time?
