In-Home Design Consultant

Role Description The In-Home Design Consultant is a contract, on-site role based in Lexington, KY. This role involves visiting clients’ homes, assessing existing spaces, and conducting professional consultations to understand storage needs and preferences. The consultant will create custom design solutions, prepare detailed proposals, and present product options and pricing to clients. Day-to-day tasks include scheduling and attending appointments, measuring spaces accurately, using design tools to illustrate recommendations, and coordinating with installation teams to ensure a smooth project handoff. The consultant is also responsible for maintaining excellent client communication, following up on leads, and supporting sales goals while representing ShelfGenie of Lexington in a professional manner.
Qualifications

• Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to build rapport, listen actively, and provide clear guidance in clients’ homes.
• Proven Sales experience, including consultative selling, closing techniques, and comfort discussing pricing and options.
• Knowledge of Interior Design principles, including space planning, functionality, and aesthetic considerations.
• Familiarity with Furniture and Furnishings, and how storage solutions integrate with existing home layouts.
• Ability to work independently in the field, manage a flexible schedule, and reliably travel to client appointments in the Lexington, KY area.
• Strong measuring, spatial reasoning, and basic math skills to ensure accurate designs and proposals.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present concepts and designs clearly.
• Comfort using tablets, design software, or CRM tools to document consultations and prepare proposals.
• Previous experience in home improvement, remodeling, cabinetry, or related industries is beneficial.
• Reliable transportation and a professional, client-focused attitude are required.
