Position Summary
Performs advanced professional accounting work and performs related duties as assigned in accounting.
Pay Grade: 52
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications
100.00% - 1. Three (3) years of experience in the use of accounting principles, techniques, and theories; AND
2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, public or business administration; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintains and determines fixed asset data and ensures records are kept properly for governmental accounting departments.
2. Manages and analyzes Construction-in-Process schedules for Shelby County Schools and the municipal school districts supported by the county.
3. Initiates journal entries and adjustments, performs analysis and account reconciliation, develops and manage data.
4. Works closely with the Sr. Accountant managing and recording investment data.
5. Creates and maintains grant folders (e.g., CFDA) and associated grant activity reports.
6. Composes correspondence and other internal communications.
7. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSA's
KSAs - 1. Knowledge of accounting theory and practices.
2. Ability to engage contacts and co-workers with tact.
3. Ability to employ good judgment when evaluating situations and making decisions.
4. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Disclaimer
