What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level CAD/CAM Programmer position at Sheet Metal Products?
The ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience required to effectively and efficiently prepare parts to be processed on the laser cutter machine. The right candidate will be able to work mostly independently as well as collaborate with the manufacturing team. Basic CAD knowledge is required.
This is not a 5 axis or machining center programming position.
Requirements:
- Analytical thought process
- Good spatial reasoning skills
- Understanding of basic trigonometry
- Experience with sheet metal processing techniques
- Experience with CAD/CAM and/or nesting software
Job Duties:
- Use software to program CNC lasers and press brakes.
- Interprets customer provided engineering blue print to program flat layout of part using CAD/CAM software.
- Verify work order operations are correct per customer provided print.
- Use CAD software to create both 2D and 3D models of parts.
- Determine best method for cutting based on part features, machine capabilities, and shop capacity.
- Orient and nest parts for optimal sheet utilization.
- Collaborate with manufacturing manager and manufacturing team to troubleshoot problems and prioritize jobs.
Experience:
- CAD skills (required)
- SolidWorks (preferred)
- Sheet Metal Processing (required)
Education:
- Associates Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Technology or similar field (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
