Because this position includes duties involving the supervision, searching, transportation, and care of female inmates, being female is a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) for this assignment in accordance with applicable law.
As a Corrections Officer, you will:
- Maintain safety and security within housing units and throughout the facility
- Supervise inmate movement, meals, recreation, visitation, and daily activities
- Conduct searches and inspections to prevent contraband and ensure compliance with facility rules
- Respond professionally to emergencies, disturbances, and medical situations
- Assist with inmate intake, release, transportation, and classification processes
- Monitor inmate behavior and maintain accurate reports and documentation
- Support rehabilitation efforts while enforcing policies consistently and fairly
- Work collaboratively with medical staff, law enforcement, court personnel, and community partners
This role requires sound judgment, integrity, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Must obtain and maintain Wisconsin Correctional Officer Certification within the first year of employment.
- Must successfully complete required background investigations, criminal history checks, pre-employment screenings, and any job-related medical or psychological evaluations.
