The Facility Maintenance Assistant, under supervision of Sheboygan County Building Services management, is a casual position, working year-round, flexible part time hours to support department operations as needed, focusing primarily on outdoor grounds maintenance.
Facility Maintenance Assistant Assumes Responsibility For Various Maintenance Of County-owned Buildings Under The Jurisdiction Of The Building Services Department. Primary Activities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Facility Maintenance Assistant Assumes Responsibility For Various Maintenance Of County-owned Buildings Under The Jurisdiction Of The Building Services Department. Primary Activities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Grounds maintenance: cutting lawn and maintaining equipment; planting and maintaining flowers and shrubbery; trimming, edging, and cleaning up.
- Removing ice and snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking areas prior to 8:00 AM, during the day and on weekends as necessary.
- Maintains equipment after use by cleaning, checking tires, belts, etc.
- Maintains and refuels vehicles and motorized equipment.
- Transports refuse for disposal or recycling.
- Unloads freight at times utilizing skid steer and re-stocks areas.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as requested.
- Be over the age of 18.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to operate grounds equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.) and snow removal equipment (plow truck, tractor, snowblower, etc.)
- Ability to operate and maintain small power tools and hand tools.
- Possess knowledge of vegetation identification.
- Ability to work independently in an outdoor setting on a consistent basis.
- Ability to understand and effectively carryout oral and written instructions.
- Ability to utilize computers for payroll and email systems.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions throughout all seasons including temperatures below zero or above 90 degrees with high humidity.
- Exposed to noise, fumes, odors, dust or poor ventilation. Hazardous exposure includes proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on lifts and high places. Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses and vests.
- Required to stand for long periods, walking, climbing ladders, stooping, crouching, kneeling, grasping, reaching with hands and arms, pushing/pulling to drag, haul or tug objects.
