Job Description Summary
Shawnee State University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Assistant Football Coach to support the football program’s daily operations. This position will assist the head coach and coordinators in coaching, recruiting, player development, and administrative duties while upholding the mission and values of the university and its athletics department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Coaching & Player Development
- Assist in coaching a designated position group or unit (offense, defense, or special teams)
- Teach fundamental and advanced football techniques
- Support the development of student-athletes both on and off the field
- Help plan and conduct practices, meetings, and film sessions
- Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes
- Assist with recruiting visits, communication, and follow-up
- Maintain recruiting databases and compliance documentation
- Represent Shawnee State University in a professional manner during recruiting activities
- Break down game film and analyze opponents
- Assist with scouting reports and game plans
- Contribute to in-game adjustments and sideline organization
- Assist with equipment coordination, travel planning, and logistics
- Support academic monitoring and mentorship of student-athletes
- Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and applicable governing body rules
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and communications
- Assist with camps, clinics, and community outreach events
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (or actively pursuing one)
- Prior playing and/or coaching experience in football
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
- Collegiate playing or coaching experience
- Experience with film breakdown software (e.g., Hudl)
- Knowledge of recruiting processes at the collegiate level
