Job Description Summary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS
- Provides support for general accounting functions, as assigned
- Provides support to Procurement Services for recordkeeping, data entry and processing of transaction (ex: journal entries, payment documents, check printing, payroll tax transmission)
- Provides other department duties to assist in record accuracy and/or retention
- Provides support for general accounting functions, as assigned
- Prepares general ledger entries
- Assists with state construction and voucher review
- Compiles procurement related tax documents (1099 process)
- Updates investment spreadsheet and prepare related entries
- Coordinates interdepartmental charges process
- Assists with preparation of bank reconciliation, financial statements and external reports
- Provides support to Procurement Services for recordkeeping, data entry and processing of transaction (ex: journal entries, payment documents, check printing, payroll tax transmission)
- Coordinates and monitors billing information for utilities usage, food service vendor, and others
- Processes and keeps records (authorizations, travel advances, travel expense report documentation verification) for all university travel
- Compares invoices and checks for accuracy prior to distributions to vendors
- Assists Procurement Services in P-Card transaction review, SciQuest payment problem resolution and processing of telephone instructions related to payroll tax withholding payments
- Provides other department duties to assist in record accuracy and/or retention
- Indexes information in the FEITH system according to record retention policies
- Assists with preparation and input of journal entries, inter-departmental charges, budget adjustment, invoices, etc. as needed

MINIMUM JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Analytical skills needed in order to identify and correct inaccuracies
- High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and business systems; working knowledge of computer software to formulate data analyses
- High level interpersonal and communication skills necessary to regularly interact with a variety of publics, including presentation skills
- Highly organized with ability to effectively handle close attention to detail
- Ability to effectively complete tasks within short timelines and adapt to change
- Accomplishes tasks in a timely and high-quality fashion
- Must be able to complete work assignments while responding to frequent and varied interruptions
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
- Eighteen (18) months of education or technical specialty programs in a related area beyond High School, including evidence of successful completion of college-level accounting courses (minimum of three quarters or two semesters) or demonstrated equivalent knowledge
- Two to three (2-3) years of experience in a business office, bookkeeping & clerical experience
