Position Overview:
Shaw Brothers Construction is seeking a reliable and experienced Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team in Gorham, Maine. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our asphalt plant to ensure consistent production and quality materials for our paving crews. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working long shifts in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule:
- Average 10–12 hour shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure proper production levels and material quality
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of plant components
- Adjust plant settings to meet production specifications and job requirements
- Load and unload materials as needed
- Maintain accurate production and maintenance records
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Communicate effectively with team members, truck drivers, and supervisors
Qualifications:
- Prior experience operating an asphalt plant perferred but we are willing to train.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Work in environments with dust, noise, and temperature fluctuations
