Overview:
This 12-week Summer Accounting Internship at Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA) is for a student who wants hands-on, real-world experience in a professional accounting environment. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the intern will gain exposure to core accounting processes while developing technical and analytical skills that support future careers in accounting and finance. This is a paid internship.
Activities:
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support budget tracking, forecast preparation, and variance analysis.
- Help analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboard to support reporting and automation project.
- Collaborate with team members on cross-functional projects.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Senior undergraduate or graduate student pursuing an Accounting or Finance degree.
- Strong interest in accounting and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Power BI experience is a definite plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards in close proximity to others. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items. Must be able to walk moderate distances in a warehouse and production environment.
This internship is offered through Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA) in Memphis, TN. This is an in-office opportunity. Hours can be expected to range 20-40 hours per week. Interns selected are not employees of SMCA, as employment will be through a third-party staffing agency. Being selected for an internship does not guarantee future employment.
