The Inventory Specialist manages inventory and asset records, receives and distributes materials, conducts inventory audits, maintains accurate stock levels, and ensures organizational resources are tracked, stored, and available for use.
General Position SummaryThe Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the efficient management of organizational assets, equipment, supplies, and materials. This position oversees inventory tracking, receiving, storage, distribution, and reconciliation activities to support operational needs while maintaining accountability and compliance with established policies and procedures.

Major Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain accurate inventory records for equipment, supplies, materials, and organizational assets.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and completeness.
- Process inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, distributions, and disposals.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage areas for efficient access and accountability.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and physical audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and damaged goods.
- Ensure compliance with inventory control policies, procedures, and standards.
- Coordinate inventory needs and deliveries with procurement staff and internal departments.
- Support warehouse operations, including stocking, labeling, packaging, and shipping activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes and asset accountability.
- Assist with annual inventory reviews, audits, and asset verification initiatives.
- Operate inventory management software and tracking systems.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and security of inventory and organizational assets.
- Lift, move, and organize inventory items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Some inventory experience preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
