We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Coding Auditor to join our Health Information Management team part time. Responsibilities
- Review and audit medical records for coding accuracy and completeness
- Verify proper application of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing guidelines
- Identify discrepancies or errors in medical documentation and coding
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing staff to resolve coding issues
- Maintain detailed documentation of audit findings and corrective actions
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices
- Assist in training staff on proper coding procedures as needed
Requirements: RHIA, RHIT CPC, CCA, and CCS in any combination. 5 to 10 years’ experience as a Coder. High School Diploma or equivalent.
Skills
- Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and medical office operations
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately
- Attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams
- Prior experience in medical coding or auditing is preferred but not required; relevant certifications are a plus
