Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Rehabilitation Technician to support patient recovery and enhance functional outcomes in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical terminology, and rehabilitation medicine practices, with experience working in skilled nursing facility, outpatient, or inpatient environments. As a Rehabilitation Technician, you will assist licensed therapists by preparing patients, facilitating therapeutic exercises, and ensuring safety during treatment sessions. Your role is vital in delivering high-quality rehabilitative services that promote healing and improve quality of life for diverse patient populations.
Duties
- Provides a variety of duties to assist the Rehab professionals in the provision of care in the presence of the therapist or assistant, moving the IV pole or wheelchair while a patient is being ambulated, assisting with support of an extremity during ROM assessment and exercise
- Assist with or performing patient transfer using proper lo-lift techniques
- Assist with the set-up for skilled services as appropriate.
- Assists in scheduling, transfers and transporting patients as required for rehabilitation services.
- Manages paperwork such as evaluations, therapy notes, discharge notes and other forms, reports and documents by making appropriate copies and filing/uploading into designated locations.
- Enters data into computer as directed by Director of Rehab.
- Assist as necessary to solve computer/IT issues including serving as the point person for Securus service calls.
- Maintains general upkeep of therapy areas, including cleaning equipment. Adjusts equipment and monitors for safety hazards as needed.
- Answers department telephone, takes and delivers messages to staff. Sends faxes as necessary.
- Performs clerical duties as assigned.
- Provides superior customer service to all staff and residents, projecting a positive and professional image at all times.
- Adheres to established confidentiality standards.
- Promotes ideals and values of Nightingale healthcare.
- Attends in-services and staff meetings as directed.
- Assists the therapy team in coordinating treatment plan with resident, family, and other team members, actively participating in the team approach to benefit patient care. Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the resident.
- Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, residents, family members, and facility
- personnel, modeling respectful behavior by exhibiting professionalism with coworkers.
- Adheres to established confidentiality standards including all applicable HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
- Assists with Fitness/Wellness Center as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong patient service orientation with excellent communication skills to foster trust and rapport.
- Practicing in a rehabilitation role with knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in manual handling techniques including heavy lifting and safe patient transfers.
- Experience working within skilled nursing or post-acute care environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with inpatient care protocols, outpatient clinics, orthopedics, geriatrics, and post-acute rehabilitation processes.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to accurately assist with therapeutic exercises and monitor patient progress.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced clinical settings while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior experience with intake procedures and documentation within skilled nursing or clinic environments is advantageous.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Degree
- Experience in a health care setting as well as general office experience is preferred.
- Certified Nurse Assistant certification is strongly preferred.
- Prefer candidates enrolled in PT, OT, ST, PTA, COTA or health related program at accredited school or
- completing prerequisites to enter same
- Successful completion of Rehab Tech competencies within first 30 days
