Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Job Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide physical therapy services to residents at Sharon Care Center. The PTA will assist in the implementation of treatment plans, perform therapeutic exercises, and document patient progress. This role is essential in helping residents achieve their highest level of physical function and independence. Sharon Care Center has its own dedicated therapy department, ensuring personalized and consistent care for all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Physical Therapist in conducting patient assessments, including measuring range of motion and strength.
- Implement individualized treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities such as electrical stimulation.
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatments as necessary within the scope of the treatment plan.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and activities to enhance recovery.
- Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations and facility policies.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Manual dexterity to perform therapeutic exercises and treatments.
Work Schedule:
- PRN position with varying shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
