Shipping and Receiving Material Handler
Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, moving, and staging materials using a forklift. This role also supports shipping and receiving operations through accurate computer use, documentation, and material preparation in a GMP-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of materials for shipment such as labeling and shrink wrapping (30%-50% of day)
- Operate a forklift to load and unload materials from trucks
- Move, stage, and transport bulk materials within the facility and between adjacent buildings
- Prepare materials for shipment, including labeling and shrink wrapping
- Receive materials using a computer system and prepare shipping documentation
- Perform limited data entry of production-related information into the enterprise resource system
- Interact professionally with vendors, truck drivers, and internal staff
- Follow all safety, quality, and GMP requirements, including proper use of PPE
Qualifications
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail for accurate labeling and paperwork
- Ability to complete documentation accurately and on time
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and remain focused independently
- Ability to perform basic math using a calculator and different units of measurement
- Adequate peripheral vision and depth perception to safely operate a forklift
- Professional communication skills when interacting with vendors and drivers
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Approximate time sitting: 70%
- Approximate time standing/walking: 30%
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (foot, eye, and hand protection)
- GMP facility: jewelry and piercings must be removed or properly covered
