What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Grants & Contracts Accountant position at Shaga Consulting and Recruiting?
Senior Grants & Contracts Accountant
This is a compliance and reconciliation role. The money already moved, your job is making sure every dollar of it is accounted for and every grant stays compliant.
A higher education client in Albany, GA needs a Senior Grants & Contracts Accountant to own the accounting side of grants and contracts from intake to close-out. You're the person who catches the discrepancy before it becomes an audit finding.
What you'll actually be doing:
- Reconciling grant and contract funds against what was actually spent
- Tracking compliance against governmental and nonprofit accounting standards
- Building financial reports that hold up under scrutiny
- Working across departments to keep reporting accurate and on time
What you bring:
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or something close
- 3 to 5 years in budgeting, finance, or accounting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Patience for detail work, and the persistence to chase a discrepancy until it's resolved
Worked at a university before, or used PeopleSoft/OneUSG software? That helps. Never touched either? Still apply.
If you'd rather chase down a number until it ties out than build a five-year forecast, this is your role.
