JOB LOCATION : Main Campus

DEPARTMENT: CASE MANAGEMENT

SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 8-1630

Position Summary

  • Will enter patients Electronic Medical Record and must understand and comply with HIPPA
  • Will be accountable for the accuracy of information entered and documented in Electronic Medical Records.
  • Will interact with Customers often and must understand and comply with Customer Absolutes
  • Will be responsible for maintaining, responding, and addressing all SGMC Case Management faxes, phone calls, and voice messages for the department.
  • Will notify the appropriate staff of account information in regards to utilization review needs, ie. Days approved, updated clinical needed, approved auth numbers, and denials.
  • Will be knowledgeable of the payers’ approval, denial, and authorization information and process.
  • Will be responsible for reviewing information received from payers, in regard to utilization review, authorization numbers and approved hospital days, for accuracy.
  • Other duties as identified and assigned by Case Manager Director or Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum (1) year prior administrative experience or equivalent; preferable in a hospital or medical office setting to include working knowledge of insurance and managed care.
  • Technical/system skills/knowledge: PC and Windows literacy required, as well as Microsoft Office applications- Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. as well as a variety of other office machines. Prior use of medical office software database preferred.
  • Knowledge of, or coursework in, medical terminology.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and must be able to work effectively as part of a team and respond well to supervisors. Must be able to interact with patients, other departments, physician offices, other acute medical care providers, insurance companies, pre-certification companies, employers, utilization review companies; and state regulatory agencies (GMCF, Medicaid).
  • Self -motivated, showing initiative to tackle important issues, problems and tasks.
  • Attention to detail skills are critical; ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and be flexible in order to adapt to variety on the job; ability to cross train to other functions as necessary.
  • Must be able to organize workload in an efficient manner and type 30 wpm accurately.
  • Requires flexibility in work schedule for accountability expectations for operations and process management

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

  • Well-lighted, air-conditioned, general work area. Moderate noise level. Generally regular work schedule during normal office hours. Ability to sit, stand or walk for moderate periods. Safe and efficient operation of office equipment including copier, fax, printers, computer, and telephone. Reading of printed materials. Listening and verbally responding to customers, and staff. Moderately heavy lifting {0-25 lbs.}, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.
