DEPARTMENT: TRANSFER CENTER
SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8HR Night Shift, mon - fri 11pm - 7am
POSITION SUMMARY The Placement Specialist, with minimum supervision, is responsible for the placement or the assigning of beds for inpatients and outpatient requiring rooms. Assesses the diagnosis to determine the correct placement for the patient. Registers inpatients and outpatients as needed. Accepts bed requests from physicians, physician office staff, Emergency department, Patient Care Services, Surgery, other intradepartmental departments and outside health facilities. Assists the Administrator Coordinator with the screening of calls into the Transfer Center as well as assisting with trauma transfers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES High school diploma or GED preferred. Clinical degree desired. Computer, registration, and/or clinical experience preferred. Telephone contact experience. 3-4 weeks on the job training followed with 6 months closely supervised monitoring. Telephone and organizational skills required. Employee must be aware of and fully support the Medical Center - Departmental policies and Customer Service absolutes. Must have demonstrated ability to deliver services to physician, patients, and fellow employees with compassion and in a responsive, courteous, and concerned manner.
