Job Title: Sales Manager – SGI Heating, Cooling, and Electrical
Location: Flint, MICompensation: $100,000 – $175,000 per year (Base Performance Incentives)
About UsSGI started 12 years ago when Scott Gormley split with a business partner and decided to go out on his own. Today Scott is still our owner and President, but his son Garrett has been in the business for 3 years and will be the next leader of the company. We are an HVAC and whole home generator sales and installation company serving customers across the entire Lower Peninsula of Michigan as well as northern Indiana and Ohio with top line sales of $13M in 2025. SGI is an authorized service provider for The Home Depot, this partnership drives approximately 80% of our business. When we started we had 14 Home Depot stores and today we represent 50. In addition, we generate roughly $2M annually in core business and through major retail partners including Costco and ACE Hardware.
With a team of 11 sales representatives that all sell HVAC and generators operating across our footprint, we are looking for a driven, experienced Sales Manager to lead, develop, and support our sales organization from our Flint headquarters.
Position OverviewThe Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the performance of our sales team, managing key retail relationships, and driving revenue growth across all channels. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a performance-driven environment and understands in-home sales, retail lead generation, and service-based selling.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of 11 sales representatives across Michigan’s Lower Peninsula
- Run bi-weekly sales meetings
- Answer phone calls at all hours from sales reps that are with a customer
- Support Sales reps with our CRM, Service Titan
- Expert level knowledge of our financing options and associated dealer fees
- Lead, hire, and train SGI Lead Generators in the Home Depot stores
- Participate in Home Shows and Career fairs
- Pull reporting from Service Titan and the Home Depot Scorecard
- Oversee and strengthen partnerships with The Home Depot, Costco, and ACE Hardware
- Develop and implement sales strategies to increase close rates
- Monitor KPIs and sales metrics
- Recruit, train, and onboard new sales talent as the company grows
- Conduct ride-alongs, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching sessions
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure a smooth hand off of jobs from sales to install
- Ensure a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction across all sales interactions
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales management, preferably in HVAC, home services, or in-home sales
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Experience managing distributed or territory-based sales teams
- Ability to analyze data and drive performance improvements
- Excellent communication, coaching, and motivational skills
- Familiarity with retail partnership sales models (big-box stores a plus)
- Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
